Here is the next post, following the same structure and depth as the series so far:
The now as a portal
You can remember the past.
You can imagine the future.
You can analyze, plan, compare, assess, and understand.
But there is one thing you cannot do:
You cannot live outside the now.
Everything you have ever experienced was once a now.
Everything you will ever experience will at some point be a now.
And yet most people spend much of their lives in a place that does not even exist:
in thoughts about yesterday or tomorrow.
While life itself is happening right now.
Here.
Now.
In this one moment.
Presence means truly being here.
Not just physically.
But with your consciousness.
Escaping the now
The human mind loves time travel.
It goes back:
What could I have done differently?
Why did this happen?
What should I have said?
Why did this person act that way?
Why have I become this way?
And then it jumps ahead:
What will happen?
What if it doesn't work?
What if I fail?
What else do I need?
When will I finally be where I want to be?
This creates a strange state:
The body is here.
But the person themselves is elsewhere.
They sit eating and think about tomorrow.
He lies in bed having conversations with people who are not even there.
He works on today while already worrying about next week.
They experience a beautiful moment and think about how they can hold on to it.
Life is happening.
But awareness is occupied.
Presence means ending this escape.
Not by stopping thinking.
But by recognizing when thinking pulls you out of the moment.
The now needs no preparation
One of humanity's greatest illusions is:
‘One day I will truly live.’
When I have enough money.
When I am healthy enough.
When I have found the right partner.
When the project works.
When I have worked through my past.
When I am finally free.
When I have arrived.
But life does not wait for that moment.
It is already here.
The perfect moment will not come.
The moment becomes perfect when you begin to truly inhabit it.
This does not mean that goals are unimportant.
It means you no longer delegate your life to a future state.
You can make plans.
You can dream.
You are free to create.
But you don't have to sacrifice your entire life in the present just to be allowed to start living someday.
Presence changes your perception
When you are truly present, something changes.
Not necessarily the world.
But your relationship with it.
You listen differently.
You see differently.
You feel differently.
You notice things that previously faded into the background.
The wind on your skin.
The sound of a bird.
The breath in your body.
The movement of your thoughts.
Another person's gaze.
The tension in your stomach.
The beauty of a seemingly ordinary moment.
Suddenly, life becomes immediate again.
Not as a story.
Not as a memory.
Not as an expectation.
But as an experience.
And perhaps you then recognise something crucial:
Life was never boring.
You were simply absent too often.
The space between stimulus and response
Presence is more than a spiritual concept.
It also changes how you approach life.
Someone says something that hurts you.
The old impulse returns.
Anger.
Attack.
Retreat.
Justification.
Yet something can emerge between a stimulus and your response:
a space.
A tiny moment.
One breath.
An awareness.
You notice:
"There is anger right now."
And suddenly you are no longer completely identified with the anger.
You are not the anger.
You can perceive it.
And what you can notice is not something you automatically have to act out.
That is exactly where freedom begins.
Not in never feeling anything.
But in being able to consciously choose again between feeling and action.
Presence is a portal
Why can the now be a portal?
Because something happens in the present moment that thinking alone can never produce:
You experience yourself directly.
Not as a role.
Not as the past.
Not as a story.
Not as the image others have of you.
But as consciousness.
When thoughts grow quieter, space opens up.
When resistance to the moment subsides, peace emerges.
When you stop constantly wanting to be somewhere else, something inside you begins to arrive.
The now does not open up a secret place outside the world.
It opens access to what is already there.
To yourself.
The Matrix thrives on inattention
A world full of distractions does not need people to be constantly controlled.
It is enough to keep them constantly occupied.
Another stimulus.
Another message.
Another video.
Another headline.
Another appointment.
Another problem.
Another thought.
Attention jumps around.
And with every distraction, you move a little further out of the present moment.
This does not mean that every technology or every form of entertainment is bad.
The question is:
Who decides where your attention goes?
You?
Or everything else?
Because attention is a form of life energy.
Experience takes shape wherever your attention consistently rests.
That is where meaning emerges.
That is where identity takes shape.
And that is why conscious presence is also an act of sovereignty.
You don't have to follow every thought
Many people believe they have to take every thought seriously.
But a thought is initially just a thought.
‘I cannot do this.’
A thought.
‘Everyone is against me.’
A thought.
“I have to achieve even more.”
A thought.
"I am not good enough."
A thought.
Presence creates distance.
You hear the thought.
But you do not have to believe it immediately.
You can observe it.
And perhaps you ask:
Is this really true right now, or is it just an old program repeating itself?
This one question can make an enormous difference.
Because awareness does not mean no longer having thoughts.
Awareness means no longer blindly following every thought.
Presence and inner guidance
The quieter you become within, the easier it is to perceive what truly comes from you.
Not fear.
Not social pressure.
Not other people's expectations.
Not the need for approval.
But your own perception.
Your intuition.
Your clarity.
Your inner knowing.
That is why presence is also a foundation for what we have explored so far:
Thoughts.
Emotions.
Remembrance.
Intuition.
Shadow.
You can only truly recognise all these layers when you are present.
You can't understand yourself if you're constantly running away from yourself.
Presence doesn't mean standing still
Sometimes spirituality is confused with withdrawal.
But presence does not mean doing nothing anymore.
On the contrary.
A person who is present can act with incredible power.
He simply no longer acts exclusively out of automatic patterns.
He makes more conscious decisions.
They listen more closely.
They react less impulsively.
They recognise more quickly when something does not feel right.
They can remain calm in the middle of chaos.
And that is precisely what makes action clearer.
Presence does not make you passive.
It makes you available for what is truly needed now.
The portal is not in tomorrow
Perhaps you have been looking for the next step for a long time.
For the next insight.
After the next book.
After the next seminar.
For the next person.
After the next breakthrough.
But perhaps the next step is not somewhere out there.
Perhaps it is right here.
In your next breath.
In the person standing right in front of you.
In the feeling you have not wanted to feel until now.
In the decision you have been putting off for months.
In the moment when you put your phone away and are simply truly present.
The portal is not somewhere else.
It opens the moment you stop overlooking the present moment.
Exercise: Back to the Now
You do not need a complicated ritual for this.
Pause for a moment.
Breathe.
And ask yourself:
What am I seeing right now?
What am I hearing right now?
What am I feeling in my body right now?
What emotion is present right now?
What thought is running through my mind right now?
And then:
What happens if I don't have to change any of it?
Just observe.
Just notice.
Just being there.
Perhaps nothing spectacular happens at first.
And that is precisely where the insight lies.
You don't always have to experience something.
You are free simply to experience.
The now is the only place where you can create
You can no longer change the past.
You cannot experience the future directly.
But you can now decide.
Speak now.
Be silent now.
Walk now.
Stay in the now.
Forgive now.
Set boundaries now.
Love now.
Create now.
That is why changes in your life do not begin at some indefinite point in the future.
It begins in a present moment.
And then another one.
And another.
Until individual conscious moments become a conscious life.
The person who is present
Perhaps that is why awakening is less spectacular than we think.
Perhaps it does not mean eventually reaching a state in which everything is perfect.
Perhaps awakening simply means:
to finally be here.
With your body.
With your feelings.
With your questions.
With your wounds.
With your joy.
With your uncertainty.
With your whole life.
No longer constantly waiting for the next moment.
To stop constantly fighting the present moment.
But recognize:
This moment is your life.
And as you recognise this, something fundamental changes.
You stop merely searching for your life.
You begin to live it.
Core
🜂 The past is memory.
🜂 The future is possibility.
🜂 The now is experience.
Here you can be nothing other than present.
Here you can choose consciously.
Here you can feel.
Here, you can act.
Here you can create.
Your life begins here.
FiYoWa reminds you …
that you do not have to reach some destination one day to truly live, because the only portal through which your life can ever reach you is this one moment: now.
